um, embarassing?

How awful of me...it's been OVER A YEAR since I posted, which officially makes this the lamest non-blog ever.

So, um, hi, and can I kind of use the excuse that I was pregnant for much of last year and then had a beautiful boy? No? Not cutting it?

how about...work's been crazy? still no?

whatev. no one's reading this anyway. kind of freeing, in a way. Now that I am starting to get some time to myself, creative time, "me" time, look for this pseudo-blog to get updated more frequently. (shouldn't be that hard to do...)

J.J. Abrams

Today, I found this article by J.J. Abrams on wired.com.

Being a tremendous fan of Lost, I was interested to see what he'd say about "the magic of mystery", and although I've already heard a lot of the points he makes before, he hits a few nails on the head. There is joy in the act of finding out for yourself, no matter what media you choose. For me, it's books, and going along for the ride each author has constructed. Or enjoying my episodes of Lost, even if I don't really know (or care) what's behind the curtain of this series, so to speak.

The story Abrams relates about his Super Mario days, particularly the final line, is worth the price of admission though.

So. Much. Fun

I am going to be sorry that I ever discovered this site.

It's addictive and engaging, yet soothing, and even though I don't really know what's going on...i don't really care. Pretty.

My absolute adoration for the band Cibo Matto is again bolstered by this video.

It's...fabulous.

"Disheartened" doesn't tell the half of it...

So, I'm sitting at a colleague's desk today, working through the program flow of one of the excellent software products my company creates, when she tosses a stack of about 50 pages of paper into the trash. After a beat, I say "heh heh, you ARE going to recycle those...right??" to which she replies, "yah, OK hippie."

I was...horrified. That she felt that way about recycling, but also that she thought it was OK to actually choose NOT to recycle. Because you see - like everyone else at my company - she has HER OWN recycling bin, which is located IN HER CUBE, and is PROVIDED BY OUR COMPANY, and was LESS THAN 2 FEET AWAY when she chose to ditch her papers in the trash.

For goodness sake, people...if you're lucky enough to work for a company that actually cares about you & about the world and pays the money to recycle their paper, then all you need to do is get the paper into the right bin. Turn one foot to right. Look down. Ah, there it is.

My frustration level is rising...just like those darn seas of ours...wake up!!!!!!
